 Role of Club Chairman
The Beckenham Swimming Club Chairman is responsible for the overall running of the club.
- To chair and control the meetings of the management committee
- To be involved, where appropriate, in the coordination of all club activities.
- Oversee decisions made by the management and sub committees
- Oversee the work of officers and other club personnel.
- In conjunction with the secretary present the annual report.
- In conjunction with the treasurer present the annual accounts.
- Consult with the secretary on the content of the agenda and minutes of meetings.
- Keep up to date on ASA laws, regional rules and club constitution.
- Ensure that statutory documents and other returns are filed on time.
- Advise the treasurer on the use and investment of club funds.
- Report to the officers of the management committee at the first opportunity of any instant decisions taken, and ensure that all policy decisions are ratified by the management committee.
- Act to ensure the Club Coaches and Management Committee motivated and supported in their roles for the club.

The information within these guides has been compiled and reviewed by aquatic volunteers who are knowledgeable and experienced within these roles. The Good Club Guides have been created to support the ASA’s Club Development programme swim21. They are intended to complement swim21, by providing tools, templates and resources that will assist the running of a club, and ultimately assist in working towards or maintaining swim21 accreditation.

Richard Collins
I was elected as President and Chairman of Beckenham Swimming Club at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on June 11th 2008. I have been a member of the club since I was 4yrs old and have been a member of nearly every squad from Tadpoles to Masters. My role is to ensure timely decisions are made democratically by the Club Management Committee in the best interests of the club, its coaches and its swimmers, which take into account representative views from across the club. |
