Role Description for Head Coach
To be directly responsible for Top Squad competition and respective training programmes.
Manage coaching staff for all other squads, overseeing and advising as and when required or appropriate.
Produce an annual plan for club each year for implementation in September of that year. This plan should relate to the competition and relevant training programmes required to achieve its objectives, and should include two parent meetings a year (in September and March of the respective swimming year).
In partnership with relevant coaching staff, be responsible for the management selection of ‘club’ representative teams at all levels, including selection of relevant team and coaching staff.
To be responsible for the provision and organisation of warm ups at club organised events.
Attend monthly cub committee meetings and report quarterly on progress in relation to the annual plan, and making recommendations in respect of the said plan.
Represent the club in capacity of chief coach at relevant coaches meeting as and when required, including delegation as required.

The information within these guides has been compiled and reviewed by aquatic volunteers who are knowledgeable and experienced within these roles. The Good Club Guides have been created to support the ASA’s Club Development programme swim21. They are intended to complement swim21, by providing tools, templates and resources that will assist the running of a club, and ultimately assist in working towards or maintaining swim21 accreditation.
