Have YOU got what it takes to be a member of Beckenham Swimming Club?
The membership secretary organises trials throughout the year when there is space available in the squads. At the trial, the coaches assess swimmers and, if successful, offer the swimmer a place in a squad depending on age, ability and space.
As one of the top competitive clubs in Kent, we look for swimmers who have been recommended to join a competitive club by their swimming teacher. We do NOT teach non swimmers. The Spa at Beckenham run a very good learn to swim programme along with various other pools in the area.
Swimmers who are already competing for another swimming club and who wish to join BSC need to contact the Membership secretary and give details of the level at which they compete and recent personal best times. If appropriate, these swimmers will be assessed by the Coaches in an appropriate squad if space is available.
We take talented swimmers from the age of 4/5 years and we prefer swimmers to trial before the age of 8years old to gain entry into Tadpoles and the development squads. After the age of 9, with out any experience in squad swimming either with another club or at school, it becomes more difficult to gain entry into the Club. We run White squad which may be suitable for swimmers aged 9 and older who want to gain experience in squad training once a week as a progression from lessons and if they progress, gain experience in novice competition. This squad swims once a week on a Sunday afternoon at Trinity school pool.
If you wish to attend a trial, please e mail the Membership secretary and give your name, date of birth and an idea of your swimming ability.
