29 - 30 January 2011	ASA Zonal Championships This new competition, introduced for the first time in 2011, brings together swimmers from three regions, South West, South East and London into a zonal championships. The 2011 event will be hosted by London Region at Crystal Palace. The competition will be hosted by the other regions in turn in subsequent years. This challenge enables you to swim any distance, at any time and at a pool of your choice, so you can still be a part of the world’s biggest swim.

London Youth Games Aquathlon (3rd July 2011) This year's Aquathlon which will take place on Sunday 3rd July. This is for Years 7-11 and it is a fun and challenging event. You will find details of the distances involved in the attachment. Some swimmers may have already taken part in a Biathlon, this runs along similar lines using Crystal Palace Pool however in this case the run immediately follows the swim. If anyone is interested or would like to ask some questions, please email Della Hamilton-Cox chrisdella3@yahoo.co.uk who has managed the team for this event for a few years now. The above relates to Bromley’s team only. Eligibility depends on where you go to School or live. The fastest 6 individuals and the fastest 6 teams from each round (excluding the small schools) from 3rd March 2012 will go on to the Final round at Medway Park on Saturday 24th March - 1.30 p.m. warm up for 2.00p.m. start.
30 March 2012	Club Trophy Presentation Evening Carol Wood has organised the Trophy Presentation Evening for Friday 30th March to start at 7pm at 'GOALS' Elmers End. The evening starts at 7pm at 'Goals' Elmers End with the presentation of Trophies. Once the presentation has finished, the Disco will start. Last orders at the Bar are at 11pm, so we are looking at an 11.30pm finish. Parents or Swimmers can bring food, as there is a separate room that the food can be placed in. Carol will ask parents to email her via the squad Reps with details of what they will bring foodwise so there is not too much duplication. There will be a small entry fee which will go towards the cost of hire of the venue and the disco. Drink has to be bought at the Bar. There is also free parking at 'GOALS'.

8 June 2012	Kent County ASA Dinner Kent County A.S.A. is holding its 2012 Annual Dinner at The Plaza Suite, behind the Stag Theatre, Sevenoaks, Kent. TN13 1ZZ on Friday 8th June 2012 at 7.30 p.m. for 8.0 p.m. Tickets at £28.00 each are available from the Dinner Secretary, Mrs. Norma Nyaulingo, 13, Hatcham Park Road, London SE14 5QE. Tel 07877 415012 and you are cordially invited to attend. Arrangements can normally be made for club members to sit together at this convivial, formally informal event. We hope that you will make up a club table and come and support our President for 2012, Mrs. Shelley Robinson. Additionally tables of officials or swimmers can also be arranged. There will be a three course dinner with coffee. The dress will be dinner jackets or lounge suits. Directions to the venue will be on the backs of the tickets. 13 June 2012	Beckenham AGM The Club AGM will be taking place on 13th June, 2012 at Beckenham Spa in the separate cafe/bar area, where Duncan Goodhew and Colin Murray held the interview and question time in February. To be able to vote on any items at the meeting, you will need to be a club member which also requires you to join the ASA. Membership as a non-competitor can be organised through Dr Sally Lewis (drsallylewis@aol.com).You will have to pay the ASA membership fee of £4.70 All swimming and water polo members over the age of 16 are eligible to vote at the AGM. Even if not a member, you will be welcome to attend as an observer, but have no voting rights. Further details of the agenda and timings will be sent out nearer the time - but, do please make a note of the date and venue, and contact Dr Lewis if you wish to become a voting member. Swimmers must sign in for EACH EVENT that they have entered. If you are unsure as to what event your swimmer has been entered for, please contact me. If a swimmer hasn't signed in for a particular race it is then very difficult to fit them in after we have taken them out. I realise there will be a queue on the night but please be patient & please try not to block the entrance to the changing rooms as the Spa is still open to other members at this time. Warm Up will begin at 6pm - swimmers are reminded that they: • are NOT allowed on poolside until 6pm, once a coach is present. Cancelled.	Club Trophy Presentation Evening The trophy presentation evening for the 2012 Club Championships was cancelled due to the snow. We had hoped to re schedule the evening. But with the Kent County Championships starting, various Opens and the Easter holidays we don’t seem to be able to find a date in the diary. So the trophies will be available for collection from the area behind the canteen on Monday 25th February 2013 between 7.30 pm and 8.30 pm. Please note that anyone receiving a trophy will be expected to sign a declaration of acceptance of a Beckenham Swimming Club trophy.

The entry must be accompanied by a result sheet signed by the coach/club official verifying that the time has been achieved. A card-less entry system will be used. The desk will close 45 minutes prior to the start of each session. 20 April 2013	The National Arena Swimming League B FINAL (2012/13) Beckenham SC arein the B Final, Saturday 20th April 2013, warm up 12.00 At Cardiff International Pool. The Cup Final will take place on Sunday 21st April, warm-up commencing at 12.00 noon. For those of you who are not aware, in December 2012 Beckenham Swimming Club qualified for the Arena Final which will be held at the International Pool in Cardiff on the: 20th April 2013. This is a superb achievement for the swimmers of the club as we will be competing against cities clubs throughout the country which has a much larger membership than us. This is the most prestigious event that we participate in and swim as a team for the club. This year we will be providing transport in the form of a coach for spectators of all ages, I would therefore like to invite supporters to attend this event and cheer on the team to do Beckenham proud. The entry into the event is £7.00 Adults and £3.50 for Concessions & 16 under. The coach will be leaving at 6am from The Spa and returning the same day, time TBA. There are limited no of seats on the coach so please respond ASAP as first come basis only. We would love to see you there.

16 June 2013	Beckenham Elementary Gala 2013 To be held at Trinity School Pool, Shirley Park, Croydon, CR9 7AT (from 11am). The Gala is open to swimmers in Dev 2 (please speak with your coach first), White, Blue, Bronze, Silver & Club and all swimmers in these squads are encouraged to enter all races. Integral to the success of this Gala is the help that parents are willing to give on the day itself. If we can't get enough parents to help then we will not be able to run the gala for your children! There are a variety of roles for which help is needed, ranging from timekeeping (you don't necessarily need experience and its great to be close to the action) to refreshments, manning the entry and sign-in desks. And no-one will miss their kids swimming. 31 August 2013	Welsh Open Water Estuary Swim 2013 The Welsh Open Water Estuary swim 2013 on 31st August 2013. The event is a 2K swim crossing the Tywi Estuary from Ferryside to Llanstephan and back again under the stunning backdrop of Llanstephan castle. The swim is managed and directed by the professional crew of Ferryside lifeboat. We are currently looking for swimmers and would be delighted to hear from anyone wishing to take part in this fantastic event. All funds for The Welsh Open Water Estuary Swim go directly to the Ferryside Inshore lifeboat, the marine division of St. John Cymru. For further information about the swim please visit our website. The Welsh Open water Estuary swim was formally known as the Ferryside Lifeboat Big swim. The name was changed this year to attract a larger audience. We currently have swimmers from all over the British Isles and last year we also had a French Triathlete participate too. We would love to see an array of nationalities join us. The Welsh Open water Swim is unique in the UK as it is very rare to be able to swim across an Estuary; we are able to offer this experience as a result of careful planning and the provision of fully trained commercially qualified support crews. Another unique part of this swim is that we offer open water swim practice sessions before the main event which are open to all of our swimmers to give them a chance to feel the difference of swimming in the sea to that of pool swimming. The swimmers find this practice swim invaluable for their training.
