Swimming in Beckenham Swimming Club is the best thing I have ever done. I am currently in National Squad and if I never joined, I would not be where I am today. I first started swimming lessons at the Walnuts when I was 4 years old, I was taught by Jackie Brown, she was a coach at Beckenham Swimming Club, she told my mum that I have good potential and asked my mum to join Beckenham Swimming Club, and when I did my life just began.
I swim 9 sessions a week, each lasting 2 hours. I love swimming and the best part of it is my friends and coach, we all get along perfectly and we have so much fun and they all want you to do well and they give me so much support. Sometimes in training sessions we do heart rate sets which are VERY hard sets when you come out of the training sets we are exhausted but we do it because we will soon become faster in races.
Some highlights of my swimming would be when I broke a County Record in the 800M freestyle at the Kent County Championship and I didn’t even know I done this! I have been to Germany with Kent County representing GB which was just awesome, and I will always treasure the moment when I swam the 200m Butterfly final in the rain. National Squad also went to Cyprus on a training camp which was really hard work but also real fun. The best memory of my swimming career so far is when I qualified for British championship a year out of age. This was really the best experience of my life and words cannot explain how amazing this was!
My best event is the 200m butterfly which I swam at the British Championships. Even though this is my best event I always get so nervous, but as a swimmer my best advice is always look on the positive side of swimming and never the negative even when it gets tough DON’T GIVE UP because you are only cheating yourself.
I have to go on training camps away sometimes and they tell me all about my nutrition and what I should be eating, they also tell me how to relax before a big event.
My dream is for one day to compete in the Olympics and for my coach Tony Beckley to be there with me.
