 Role of the Training Secretary
The Beckenham Swimming Club Training Secretary is responsible for hiring all the club pool time (with the exception of the Open and Elementary galas and Trial Nights that we run) and liaising with the coaches, Secretary and Treasurer in this regard.
They should always have an up to date Membership Database so as to be able to email all members should there be a last minute cancellation or change. (Emails do make this task a lot easier!).
The Training Secretary is totally responsible for all the Squad Registers. These registers should be taken at every swim by the coach or Squad Representative. and handed to the Training Secretary immediately after the last session of each month. All changes should be noted and the following month’s register should go out to the coaches fully amended and almost by return as it they need to be taken daily. A copy of the register should be handed over to the Treasurer immediately at the end of each month so that any changes can be picked up and any relevant fees adjusted. There are so many squad changes that this is an ongoing exercise which has to be carried out without any due delay.
It is essential that the Training Secretary works closely with the Membership Secretary regarding all new members and squad moves.
The Training Secretary, of all the committee members, works closest with the coaches as they have daily dealings with them all. They should be very aware of the standard of each squad and be a willing ‘ear’ to any squad problems the coaches might have. ie. Not sufficient lanes. Want to make moves but no room in squad above etc.They need to keep this close relationship with the coaches so as to be able to cancel sessions which might clash with various championships or trips.
As you can see it is essential to build up a good relationship with my time and all the other pool operators that we use. |
